OBJECTIVE:
TO TRAIN SAFE AND EFFECTIVE LEADERS / INSTRUCTORS OF THE PROGRAM.
 

NB: Instructor/leader's certificate will be issued to suitable participants who fulfilled the requirements and pass the test. 

Qualified Participants including:

  • Tai Chi teachers or advanced students
  • Physiotherapists or physical therapists
  • Occupational therapists
  • Allied health professionals
  • Nurses
  • Rheumatology professionals
  • Qualified exercise instructors/leaders
  • Other appropriate health professionals (enquire with the master trainer)
 
Important Notes:
This is a brief description of a typical 2-day workshop. No one workshop has or will ever be exactly the same. Each master trainer has his or her own style and variation, and there will be different participants, local environments and numerous other factors leading to changes from this typical workshop. Pre-workshop preparation:

At the conclusion of the workshop you should be able to:
  • Understand the tai chi essential principles and the forms
  • Know how to teach the program effectively and safely
  • Know how to deliver the program
  • Know how to work with people with chronic conditions (such as arthritis and diabetes) safely
  • Know how to work with older adults
  • Able to perform the Tai Chi for Arthritis forms well
  • Able to perform the Tai Chi for Arthritis Qigong well

DAY ONE
 
Before 9 am
  • Registrations Tai Chi workshop in Sydney January 2008
  • Name Tags
  • Participants to sign release forms
 
9:00am – 9:30am
  • Brief Introduction and let us getting to know each other.

 

9:30am – 10:15am
Talk and Discussion
  • What is Tai Chi
  • What are features of Sun Style and Tai Chi for Arthritis program

10:15am – 11:15am

  • Warm up – 1-2-3 according to new handbook.
  • Movements 1 to 3.
  • Cooling down exercises.
 
11:15am – 11:30am
Morning Tea
 
11:30am – 12:30pm
Practice:
  • Revision/Review
  • Warm up exercises.
  • Movement, 4 to 6.
  • Cooling down exercises
  • Incorporating essential tai chi principle into the forms


12:30pm – 1:30pm

  • What is arthritis.
  • The problems associate with arthritis.
  • How does Tai Chi for Arthritis work?
 
2:30pm – 3:30pm
Practice:
Revision/Review
  • Warm up exercises.

  • Cooling down exercises.
  • Incorporating essential tai chi principle into the forms
 
3:30pm – 3:45pm
Afternoon Tea

  • Warm up exercises
  • Movements, 10 to 12
  • Cooling down exercises.
  • Incorporating essential tai chi principle into the forms
 
4:45pm – 5:00pm

DAY TWO

Discussion:
  • Summarise what we did the previous day.
  • Teaching Tai Chi for Arthritis safely
  • How to start classes.

  • working with the essential tai chi principles
  • Try the forms on the opposite side
  • Cooling down exercises
